The gas paddle you step on is actually control opening for the air.. If you want more air, step harder on that paddle.
The ECU monitor the amount of air and apply the correct amount of petrol.

I have just Finished putting new spark plugs, new MAF "genuine" & cleaned the throttle body and it has made such a difference it's so much more responsive I also disconcted the battery wile I was doing it to reset the ECU so it was a fresh hopefully my MPG will go up to.

This is a common modification that I have done to many Fords with MAF. They typically use a specifically sized air sampling tube to coincide with the size fuel injectors on the car. It won't add any power unless the size of the MAF is a restriction versus the intake tube, throttle body or actual intake. Most of the time I replaced the throttle body with a larger one and port matched the intake. My experience with larger MAF meters, coupled with larger throttle body's is a definite increase on power. Especially on supercharged or turbo charged cars.
