i really don't understand this mentality at all.
obv my priority is comfort which is why i got the GS however there is no reason you can't spruce it up a little.
i'm not trying to turn it into a race car or an ISF however if there are things i can do easily and without jeopardizing the reliability of the engine that will increase the performance why on earth should i not do it because the GS is in the luxury rather then the performance category?

You're gonna have to find soneone who can re-engineer the engine.
More power is not easy and won't be cheap. Some people have tried intakes and exhaust but got no gains and sone felt the power actually descreased.
Anything can be done if u throw enough money at it. Start throwing.

I have yet to see an exhaust that actually makes anywhere near the claimed power.
Here's what they do, they move power around the RPM range of the engine. So say an engine like the one in my GS350 makes 303hp, but that's at 6200rpm. Now, the engine might make, say, 250 at 4500 with the stock exhaust.
So an aftermarket exhaust might give you 263 at 4500, 304 at 5800 and 281 at 6200.
So the exhaust sellers advertise a 13 horsepower gain, yeah that's technically true, but the reality is a fatback is, at best, going to give you perhaps 5-6hp, and on a GS you're just not going to feel that. Assuming a 2% power improvement correlates to the same performance improvement...
This means that my GS350 would hit 60 in 5.58 seconds instead of 5.7
IMO you buy an exhaust for looks and sound, not "because race car".
Same applies for intakes.

Saw the same with a friend of mine on 2 of his Infiniti Gs, one a G35 coupe the other a G37 coupe. Generally OEM stuff just isn't that restrictive. I would love to be proven wrong.

Most OE stock exhausts stopped being all that restrictive many years ago - but you can't argue that the sound a Tubi produces from a Ferrari, is anything but infinitesimally better than what Ferrari themselves bolt on, at the factory.
Similarly the Eisenmann ones (and Akrapovic) on M3s and M5s.

The Jim Conforti chip made a much bigger difference, "euro" cam gears just moved power around, head work helped a little as did Schrick cams.
But the thing sounds GREAT!
It's just frustrating to see people spend what's usually over a grand on an intake and exhaust and they're really gaining very little other than sound.
