Just joined the 3rd Gen Family
...well kinda
I bought the GS 460 for my wife a couple of weeks ago now. Extremely happy with the purchase. I had posted some of this information on another thread, but I thought I'd share it here and include some photos (I didn't want to hi-jack someone else's thread).
Originally, we were thinking about Gen 2's, but after looking at the cars and thinking about what I wanted for my wife, we decided on the Gen 3's. We wanted something newer and the gen 3 looks absolutely gorgeous.
Thought about getting the 300 or the 350 at first, but after reading more and more about how the fuel difference was negligible, I figured the V8 was the way to go - I like having torque. The one thing that we knew we didn't want was a silver car - just too common. The target color combo was White with the ivory interior - at least this was on the wife's wishlist.
I test drove several GS430's, several 350's, and several 460's. In all of the drives, the 460 always felt the best (comfort, responsiveness), with the 350 coming in close - the wife agreed. (never did get to test drive the GS300). We wanted the GS 460. I even drove a few hundred miles a way to try one. It was nice, but wasn't the color we wanted, and the guy didn't want to deal in terms of the price, so it ended.
Finally the opportunity came up to look at one. We loved it. So now my wife is the owner of a Starfire Pearl w/ ivory interior.
(sorry for cheating and using the ad's photos)

Your new car looks brand new congrats. Wow so many 460 around now. You will not just enjoy the torque but you will love the 8 sp tranny as well on the highway. It is slow on downshifts though as compared to my wife's ride's dual clutch. I leave the power ETC on all the time to get it a little livelier. It's time to add dual pipes to yours!!!

It seems like here in crazy Cali though, they are hard to come by. Currently there are none for sale anymore in the Bay Area. So it's pretty nice to have something a little "rarer".
Yeah, the 8sp is great. This is our first V8, so I love the way it feels. Going to take it on a road trip this weekend, so it should be fun.
