Default fuel economy

I just purchased a 1996 ES300 and I seem to be only getting approximately 400km per tank. my users handbook lists my fuel tank as being 70 litres although it only fills up to about 55 litres. The reason why I'm posting this in the GS section is because I seem to be getting a worst fuel economy than the GS300 and GS400. I met a couple GS drivers and the mentioned that they can get at least 500kms on a 60 litre tank.

Is the something wrong my with car? or are those GS owners giving me the wrong numbers?
please help!

Thank you

Do you do your scheduled maintanence? Oil changes, tire rotations, spark plug changes (sometimes coil packs or distributor changes and/ or spark plug wire changes), what tire brand are you using? (yes, using cheap tires will render you really bad MPGs). All of these factors come into play when you're messing with MPGs. Also, you're posting in the wrong section STILL, this is the 3GS subforum =]

You're asking GS350 GS300(3rd gen) GS430 (3rd gen) GS450h GS460 (did I miss anyone?) people, technology's a bit more advanced in our engines compared to the 400 and 300 (2jz vs our 3rd gen's 3GR-FSE).

Might want to check out there if you want GS 300/400 owners to chime in!

P.S. Your fuel tank issue is normal, you do NOT want to drain it down to the last drop of gas, what you're doing is using the fuel down by 55L which is the given set of Litres that the car's at it's emergency point, the extra 15 litres is for emergencies only. This is to ensure you make it to the gas station. BESIDES this, draining the fuel at such a low rate (below your given fuel light) will stress your fuel pump out because now it has to work twice as hard to get fuel and it gets no cooling (since gasoline keeps the fuel pump temps cooler). You'll be looking for a new fuel pump soon if you push it farther than the fuel light all the time, everytime.
