2007 GS350 Rear Brake Caliper - Lexus wont help
#31
You just didn't let the torch heat the caliper long enough it has to get hottt... Then I grab a hammer (while hot) I hammer the pin further into the slide that helps free the pin loose. Once its "breaks free" I use wd 40 and let it soak and it slips right off.
Theres no need to replace the caliper

At first, I heated it up while it was still on the car so I had to be careful. I'm sure that if I removed it and put it in a vice I could have got it loose. Unfortunately, it was Sunday night and starting to get late and I did not have the time or inclination to take the calipers off, put them in a vice and heat them up again in order to get the pins out. I really just didn't want to spend any more time on it and felt that professionally rebuilt calipers was the best option versus the time and effort that I needed to put forth getting the pin out and cleaning up and rebuilding the ones with nearly 100,000 miles on them.
My main point of posting this is to make sure that you check you rear brakes out for proper operation before you start the job of replacing the pads. If the calipers are a problem, it is going to take much more time and effort in order to fix them properly.

aftermarket rotors, calipers, pads, etc....for some reason many Lexus models have brake issues...not sure why on such an expensive car, but hey its a fact. Most common problem is brake squeal. annoying.

Happened tp my car last week it finally seized.
The original rear caliiprs were replaced at 75k by the previous owner, probably because of the recall.
176k later Now at 251k the RR is stuck, the bottom hidden pin.
Its a really bad design, designed to fail.
Im gonna try to spray some penetrating oil on and in it and bang on it this week to see how it goes.

Hrm... i paid $600-ish for the dealer to replace my 2006 gs300 rear calipers. anyone know how i can lookup the affected vins for the recall? I sincerely hope the deal would have done the right thing, but it doesn't hurt to trust but verify.
