I purchased the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and have been pleased. They are not as stiff or responsive as the stock Yokohama's but were much less expensive. At first I had another Michelin Pilot mounted but the car felt squirmy so I switched them for the Super Sport. A little less milage and a little more money but still much less than the Yokohama's.

Has anyone compared between Conti ExtremeContact DW (summer, not the DWS a/s) and Michelin Pilot Super Sport? The PSS costs quite a bit more, but seems to only offer marginal improvement in handling.

Any recommendations for 07 Lexus RWD tire replacement for Yokohama Advan 10? Does it matter if I go from summer tire to all weather tire? I live in the Bay Area (NorCal) and hardly go up in the snow. I am also looking for the least amount of tire noise which can be annoying at times. Thanks.

Anyone tried the Yokohama YK580 from discount tire?

I got a set of Yokohama YK 580 put on by the previous owner right now at about 12000 miles, they are still very smooth and quiet and rides very easy, it is a grand touring type of tire. However, I like my Michelin Pilot Sport AS plus better on my 06 GS430, it is a little bit more aggressive which suites this car well.

08' GS350 with Sumitomo HTR Z3.....it is a high performance summer tire and they run about $240 each installed... now I am usually a michelin or goodyear man, but these tires are great. They are soft, ride great, and quite. They handle well, but they do wear out quick. probably a 30,000 to 40,000 mile tire.

30-40k on HP Summer tires is not "wearing out quickly".

I was a religious Michelin PS/PS2 user for years... 18-22k miles per with my typical commute. That's "wearing out quickly" in my book given normal driving. Now days, any good tire that lasts 30k + and handles/rides well - I have no complaints with.

After 80K miles and 2 sets of OEM Run Flat Tires, I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S+.
So far so good. Don't feel any pulling on one side. The ride is softer even with single degree temperature outside.
Will see how long these tires last and how well they perform on snow.

So need advice. I have about 35K on a set of Firestone run flats and it time to get new tires. The car has a spare. Tire rack has the Good year Eagle F1 #1 and Continental DWS #2. Looking at stock 18's 245/40's.

Really?.... No brainer Drew.... Continental DWS LOL! You're looking at the longevity of the tire, which I doubt the Goodyear Eagle F1 has.

I'd opt for the continental purecontacts.... By far my fav tire so far.... I've put some miles on them, even forgot to do a tire rotation for 2500 miles, and they still drive GREAT! My buddy drive by and still can't believe I slapped almost 20k miles on them. They look practically brand new, and the DWS indicator (D for dry traction, W for wet traction, and S for Snow traction respectively) are all still there. So the tire is still in great condition after so long.

They're not that noisy either..... At least compared to my old Dunlops. Either way you can't go wrong, as they both have decent ratings, I'd just rather pick the Continental over the Goodyears.

When I researched tires 21k miles ago, the Kumho Exta led the pack when all parameters were considered (tire life, price, quiet, etc.), so I bought them. Although the handling doesn't compare to the original Michelin's, and I didn't expect it to, I've been very satisfied with the decision. They also sold for almost $200. per tire less than the Michelin's. I have thern rotated and balanced every 5k, and they've performed flawlessly during a cross-country trip, and several to, and up (and down) the west coast. I got 35k out of the Michelin's, and fully expect to get the same from the Kumho's. Obviously things change with time, and I have no idea what I'll get when the time comes, but it doesn't look like that time is arriving anytime soon. .

The continentals are REALLY great tires, they far exceeded my expectations also..... I compared these to my cousin's Michelin MXM4 or something (also all-seasons) and they bite better IMO, the ride's the same in quietness, and mine's handles better.
