Restore Front/Side Water-Repellent Glass
I used clay bar on my windshield and side windows to remove a layer of overspray / bonded stuff after a disastrous body shop visit. After going through car wash (pressurized water only, no brush) over the weekend, I noticed that the water-repellent layer doesn't seem to be working anymore.
It used to be that water on the front windshield and the front side windows would bead up and glide off almost immediately, showing very distinctive difference compared to the rear side windows and rear windshield (similar feature also on 4GS "winter package"). Now, water would remain on the glass surface. I guess the clay bar might've removed the layer.
Searching through the forum and online, I saw recommendations of RainX (doesn't seem to last very long), the new Invisible Glass with water-repellent material (lasts a little longer than RainX), and Aquapel (lasts 6 mo ~ 1 yr).
Does anyone know what Lexus did to the glass to make it water repellent, especially lasting for several years? I'd like to restore it for the front and apply it to all the other glass surface as well.
