I just had similar problems recently, it was so efffing annoying. I took my car to Platinum VIP and I remove the wheels and used a can of break cleaner each side. I took off the brake pads and sanded them down and clean the shiet out of them. It's all good now

thanx guys...
I knew that people had a problem with squeeky brakes, when applying brakes. But this was just a little different.
I feel better now having more food for thought.

You can get the kit from Sewell quite cheap. I replaced mine about 8 months ago and the squeaking has not come back.

^^ that is not shims, shims are metal plates that go behind a brake pad. The thing u posted is a fit kit, it is made to hold the pad to the caliper.

Did you wash your car recently? I had my brakes squealing too for the longest time. I discovered it wasn't the brakes itself but the product I was using to clean the rims. Once I changed that, the squealing stopped altogether. I felt silly once I found out, I had Lexus change out the brakes twice because of the noise it was making.
