Not unless the OP is running the 430, it's still a rubber band.
If it's the 300/350/450h/460, then chain shouldn't need replaced at all.

I'm confused by this post. I have a 2006 gs430 approaching 90k miles.....what should I expect at the 90k service?

timing belt and water pump as a safety precaution + standard tune up items. 90k is the big ticket service for 1UZ/3UZ engines.

^ and while at it check other fluid too. 100k miles is like a full complete check up time.

GS430 uses timing belt. Did mine at 100k too. water pump/coolant flush/ axle fluid too/ and I think did the gear fluid too... I forgot.

that's a good price in my opinion. I'd do drive belts same time as well and inspect pulleys and gaskets.

How so?
The 430, a carry over from the 2G GS, is a V-8 with "rubber band" (timing belt).
The 300, with it's newly designed V-6 (2G GS was inline-6), and the 350/450h V-6, and the 460's new V-8, were all switched to timing chain, as has been the industry norm for nigh on a decade.

Therefore, your biggest cost/concern is going to be the belt being replaced as per schedule recommendation.

Interesting to see mention of the water pump, which is listed on Sewell's site (and I wondered why that should be the case), is reminiscent of BMW E65 7 series as a bit of an issue/concern.

It's common practice to replace the water pump along with the timing belt. Since you'll have to remove the timing belt to change the water pump, it makes sense to do them together.

The timing belt and serpentine belt are not the same thing. The serpentine belt typically gets replaced with the water pump. The timing belt is under a cover behind all those accessories and is quite a bit more complicated to replace.

Found this vid if you want to take a look:

A timing belt is not really something you want to do a diy on because you can really screw up the engine by putting on the wrong tooth on one of the pulleys. 200-450 is about what shops charge to replace timing belts and water pump
