Recirculation issue

I think my recirculation door does not work. Ive been suspecting it for some time since the fumes from outside make it inside the car once in a while.
So while driving on the highway, changing it from Recirculating mode to outside air doesnt do anything. The air still makes it in with fan off, coming out from front vents.
Is there a way to check. I found something about removing the cabin filter and seeing something there. Can I close the flap door manually for the summer and keep it closed?
Thanks.

Hold up a sec? You know there is a whole big issue with people breaking the door clips from the door that hides the cabin filter. Now if that door is broken you got a big issue and the symptons are air coming inside the car no matter if in fresh air or recirculation mode. The best way to check would be put it in to recurcilating mode take glove box part out n see if the door is closed. If its not well you are aware what happend.

I heard about it. But I don't know what exactly I am looking for.
The door that is behind the glove box is still there. I took it out and the lid that sits on top of filter can be easily moved up or down. Is that the door?
Or is the the door that is inside the glove box itself, the one that you pull up and out?
I am a bit upset about it, I didnt know about this problem before. Obviously I will not spend 1500 to get this fixed as its not worth the trouble. If its broken, previous owner didnt know about this either since it happened during his ownership.
Can someone point me in the right direction locating the problem. ?
Thanks

Upon further inspection I notice that the cover that covers the filter flat doesn't go up and down by itself. But I can lift it in open position myself and take the filter out. Is that the door that regulates outside air and inside? If so if I leave it open will that mean that I am now getting inside air and blocking out outside, recirculating?
Thanks
Thanks

sounds like the door cover is broken. i thought that lexus recently released a kit to repair the broken door...and it costs significantly less than $1500. do a forum search and see if you can find it.
