Default I got a case of the shakes...

I just started noticing about 2 weeks ago that my steering wheel shakes at low speeds. I know this could be a number of things, but any help or idea what it most likely is would be MUCH appreciated.

I'm running a staggered setup, with F-Sport lowering springs.

Wheels: Vossen VVS-085 20x9(f) 20x10.5(r)
Tires: Falken FK452

I know running this setup can cause problems and I've already experienced quite a bit of interior wear on my front wheels, but it's never caused shaking before. I'm wondering if possibly the culprit is a bent wheel (which I REALLY hope isn't the case). The front driver side wheel is new, but the front passenger is a little older with some interior wear (not enough to warrant a new tire).

Any thoughts greatly appreciated, or anyone in S.FL with a shop can take a look?

Have you gotten an alignment recently?

How about the wheels/tires re-balanced?

What about your shocks/struts?

Welcome. I'm runnin stagg too, brand new in may and once I put em on the VIB hit hardcore so an hour later I did alignment n rebalanced thinking that would stop it.. Nada- low speed I feel n see the wheel movinging alil. 70+ it's smooth
From searches it can't be fixed, people r saying its the design of axles/driveshaft/AWD- I gave up- IF YOU find a solution please post. Goodluck

I haven't aligned, or balanced in quite a bit. I know that's always first on the checklist.

Shocks/Struts are original and haven't been touched 2007 GS w/ 69k miles. They don't think they should be the problem yet.

if your tires were already showing inner wear, it could be at the point where they need to be flipped, hence why your feeling a vibration.

The OP is RWD, not AWD like yours, so he won't have the AWD issue you mentioned.

As far as the issue, I'd suggest pulling the wheels off the car and seeing if they're bent. 20's are pretty easy to bend, so it could be something as simple as needing to get them re-trued. If that's not the case, I'm thinking a rebalancing and/or a tire flip may suit your needs.

Thanks... On flipping the tires you mean actually unmounting them and swapping side/wheels correct? I was thinking of doing that before but someone told me not to. I assume this would make the INNER wear on the passenger side, now be the outer side of my driver side wheel. Correct?

Correct. its commonly done with people who are very low and run aggressive wheels and camber. it helps get the most life out of the tires.

I just got both my tires flipped as that's usually the way to get the most out of your tires. However the place forgot the balance them, and then there was shaking beginning at 65 and violent shaking at 80. Got them both re-balanced for $30 and they're vibration free now. GL!

Looks like I might have to try that. Thanks!

Any recommendations on where to get this done? I'm running out of places since Tire Kingdom and Tires Plus will never get my money EVER again.

Took it to a shop across the street from office and reiterated they be CAREFUL and not scratch anything.

Paid $83 w/ tax and all to unmount, remount on opposite side and balance. All in all it's not perfect but MUCH better than it was before. Looks like I was having the same issue with the rear, but I think I let it go to long and almost to threads so they recommended not even bothering and just getting new tires soon.

So far so good, thanks everyone for the feedback.
