2006 GS300 - 07 GS 350, tech question
Ok so I'm getting pretty pumped that I will be buying one of the two cars mentioned in the subject. Really just is a question of which is a better deal.
My question is regarding IPOD intergration and Sat radio. Both are massively important to me for my next car. Is having both in the 06 a pain in the rear, and if so are both available in the 2007?
Any info on this is helpful. NAV is not essential to me either.
Thank you in advance. If you care to point out any other advantages the 2007 may have over the 2006 I would love to hear them.
PS If I find a CPO from a Lexus dealer has anyone asked them to strip that off the car to get a better deal? Advisable? Thanks

if possible i would go with 07. it has a much better navigation system (gen5), which in turn gives you much better options on ipod and sat radio over 06 (gen4)
for sat radio, the head unit is likely sat ready but the car doesn't have tuner. factory one is very hard to find now, but i personally think vaistech is a great alternative

you can see the difference between gen4 (2nd pic) and gen5 (3rd and 4th pics).
for ipod, there is no official lexus ipod integration. there is a toyota one, but imho it's not that good. plus if you use that, you can't have sat radio, no good. i again recommend vaistech

on this gen5 is far superior. with gen4 system it's only by playlist, limited display. with gen5, it contains a lot more information and capabilities, and it allows you to play by playlists, artists, albums, etc....
hope this helps

Get 2007 if you want iPod integration. It doesn't come factory but like rominl mentioned, vaistech will solve the problem, especially if you gets the ML+ (which will not work with the 2006 GS because it has gen 4 Nav). ML+ can also play CD quality through iPod which most other integrations can't. I bought my 2007 GS450h fully loaded used so I'm not sure about the packaging and features included in most GS, but mine GS does have sat radio. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. If I'm going to spend the money I want to be happy and having a stereo without an IPOD or SAT hookup is crazy to me. Ultimately this means I will be spending a bit more for the 2007 lol.
