Use a 2007 GS350 Key of 2011 GS350
Recently had a 2007 GS350 get totaled. Replaced it with 2011 GS350 and wondering if the keyless fob for the 2007 can be reprogrammed for the 2011. Lots of posts on programming remotes with lots of different answers. I took it to dealer in Dallas who said once a key's been programmed for a car it physically cannot be reprogrammed (sounds bogus). I called A1 Locksmiths who told me Lexus cars are notorious for not be able to be reprogrammed by non-dealers (apparently Lexus will not share info or some such thing). They told me I have to go through Lexus (but they also said Lexus definitely could reprogram if they were so inclined). Lots of posts talk about buying keys on ebay and having dealers reprogram for $60 but that's not my experience.
My daughter lost one of my new fobs withing the first 24 hours so looking for a way to avoid the $380 charge for a new key. Any suggestions welcome.
Plan on taking it to a different dealer but suspect I will get the same answer.

After research, I bought 2 extra key fobs on ebay to reprogram. From what I gather, and your fcc and I'd must match. I will keep this thread in mind since I will be reprogramming it soon.
