I can't state for fact that Toyota/Lexus water pumps are designed this way yet near all have a pre drilled hole where it will leak if going bad. And they near all leak well prior to failure. I've seen OEM water pumps last well over 200k miles.

like they said, listen for unusual noise. you probably won't see the leak because most of it will land on splash shield or dry up before it gets there. i would recommend regularly checking coolant level in reservoir. Remember, YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE A LOW COOLANT LIGHT. if it even starts to overheat, pull over as soon as you safely can. There have just been too many GR engines lost to water pump failure when owners didn't know they were leaking. I don't want to scare you.....and the pump really can last 200k......just something you should be aware of

I have my 06 GS at the dealership now for the CSP for the engine misfire. SA just called and said my water pump was leaking. I have about 130k on my car. Since they already have the engin apart I will just have to pay for the part and no installation. Part is $270. He said if the were not doing the engine piston ring replacement, repair would be $1300.
