Default What oil are you running?

I just purchased 6 quarts of the full synthetic amsoil signature series, I usually run full sythetic mobile one in my charger but I thought I'd switch it up a bit for the lex. I still need a oil filter and I'm wondering what you guy recommend for filters. Thanks and should I bother getting a replacement air filter or a upgraded one?

Your car is not at all sensitive to the type of oil. You don't need a full synthetic oil but it certainly won't hurt anything and will last longer. Best common synthetics are mobil 1 and castrol syntec.edge. But any full synthetic is better than you need. Amsoil is certainly a more than good choice.
5w-30 or 0w-30. your car is not designed to run 5w-20, viscosity at full temp is too low.

but definitely toyota oil filter. Too many aftermarket cartridge filters don't fit right in there and basically leave your car with no oil filtration.

Yea I went to the local Lexus dealer and bought a few filters, what do you guys recommend for air filters? Do they make a cai for the gs300?

stay away from oil based filters such as K and N. can get oil on the mass air flow. to be fair, k and n filters are usually fine until someone tries to recharge them and uses too much oil.

and cold air intake kits usually just end up bringing in hot air instead of cold air.

Just use the dealer filter. 30k is a fine interval.....but in reality 60k in most cases is more than fine. Don't feel like starting an argument here, but the effect of an air filter on fuel mileage.....well doesn't really exist unless it's pretty much completely clogged. As in like 150k clogged. if anyone wants to argue that then try and explain in technical terms how air filters affect fuel mileage. remember that on nearly every car the "choke loss" (vacuum in the manifold) of an engine is regulated by the throttle body.
