Am I really going to have to pay $400+ for a spare key?
Hey guys,
I was at the dealer to get a spare key as I am down to 1, the price is apparently over 400 dollars!!! Is there a cheaper vendor/place I could order a spare from? If so how would I get that key programmed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks guys!

I just went through the same thing. I tried to save a buck and bought a used key for 60 bucks and 2 dealers couldnt program it and no locksmith I called would touch a used key. I had to return my 60 used key to the ebay seller and bought a new one from Sewell Lexus in Texas using the CL discount for 130 buck and my dealer programmed it for 30 bucks in 15 minutes flat. Save the hassle and get one new from Sewell and save yourself the headache and possibility of a used one no being able to get programmed.

I bought 3 used keys off ebay and 1 of them worked. Appearently based on what they told me, all keys including the one you already have must be reprogrammed. Not all keys will work. If the key originated on a GS then it is more likely to work than if it was an ES or RX etc... I paid maybe $40 per key and resold the ones that didn't work.
My service guy did it for free. I bought lunch in appreciation.
