Default features to maximize performance in snow?

I purchased a 2008 AWD last summer, but we had a winter without snow. Therefore I've yet to test the car's AWD abilities in the snow and its been over a year.

I noticed there are different "settings" for traction and power, but I don't know much about them. Could someone let me know what exactly they do?

From what I have read and observed it reduces the sensitivity of the throttle and starts the car out in 2nd gear instead of first. It seems to be pretty effective when it is slick out.

Make sure your tires are properly inflated, and when it snows, go out to a parking lot somewhere and test out the modes.

Be easy on the gas pedal, you can use snow button it retards the gas pedal sensitivity, get snow tires and hold on good to the steering wheel
