Unhappy Help!! Rear deck shade stuck!!! :(

So the problem is my rear deck shade gets stuck half way up and i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so, what caused it and how was it rectified.

Also if anyone knows how to get access to it!

I'm 90% certain you have to remove the rear deck lid from inside the car to access it.

Any funny noises while its in motion? Only things I can suggest is is get in the back when its trying to open and see if you can lube up the bend points to make sure its not catching. I would assume something is catching/rubbing....or possible the motor is going out?

I think one other member had posted a while back about issues but can't recall what the issue was.

Regardless of the issue, and your not worried about the auto down in R, get it up in its full position and pull the fuse out. This way it will stay up at all times unless this won't work. May save you from having to pull out everything assuming its not under warranty.

this is rare. And yes you can get to it only within the car. Someone have done it but it was an old thread on here.

goodluck.

Thanks guys,
So did some homework, it can only be accessed through the inside of the car.....a lot of work!
Also found how much replacement cost is $1500 , per whats posted here. So looks like i will fiddle with it and see if maybe its just getting caught or needs lube........really don't plan to spend that much on a shade....the price is crazy....maybe another Toyota model uses the same shade and it can be bought cheaper and replaced!

I have seen similar shade for much less. Maybe you can modify none oem shade to work with your car. Yes they do have the same features like roll down when put in R gear.

ebay.
