She would be responsible, but try to see if they will do a good will replacement.

why would they replace the battery if it was in good working condition when it was inspected? Thats like saying just because the car has 60k on it they should replace the shocks too because they are 4 years old and have 60k on them.

I'd try to get them to get you a new battery, but if they didn't I wouldn't sweat it.

That's probaly not even the reason the battery went dead.
I would talk with the manager on that one. See if you can call his bluff. Ask him to show you in the system where the battery was tested.
He would have to at least give me a deal on the battery. If not I'll take it some where else to get the battery replace.
