Default 2008 Gs 350 vs 2008

Hello all,

I've been lurking for a while and enjoying all the posts and pics everyone posted.

Hope you don't mind if I have a question that may have been asked before. I've searched but didn't find much.

I'm currently looking for a used GS 350 for my wife and came across a few of them. I'm in the bay are so the price is a bit higher than other states.

One is a 08 with 49k miles, 3yr/100k CPO for $27K and the other is a private 07 with 85k miles for $18.5. Another non-Lexus dealer also has a 08 with 83k for around $22k too.

The wife thinks the CPO is a good choice due to the warranty for peace of mind but I'm thinking of the higher mileage ones.

I'm thinking that high mileage one is a good buy since I can save the money now but afraid I have dump all of it into the maintenance a few years down the road instead of having the warranty covers some of it.

Appreciated any thought or suggestion? - thanks

The private seller one seems like the best choice imo.

Can you get an extended warranty somewhere on the private seller car? That could give you the peace of mind you are looking for while saving a ton of $$$$.

Yes you can purchase an extended warranty, but I wouldn't. 07-up GS350's are very reliable! You can easily see 200k trouble free miles if it's well taken care of.

As far as maintenance, you can purchase a bunch of oem parts of ebay and sewell (with CL discount) and look for a mom and pop mechanic shop to do all the work at one time. Thats what I did! I am saving a bunch of money, as I did a lot of the work on the car myself.

Just go for the best deal you can find! The GS's are dropping in price because of the 4GS. So keep looking and be patient you will find the deals. Goodluck!

hi bbqsoup, I am from the bay too. Yes, the price is a little high here. I bought my 08 GS in Livermore for $28.5k when it has 28.5k miles last August. I think you should go for the 08 since it has a more updated look. And for 5k more, I will go for the 49k one. I think my price was still too high but it has the spec I wanted: Starfire Pearl with black interior.

Stick with the Lexus dealer CPO.

Search some more. I think you can find a better deal. I have just bought 08 fully loaded (only missing item is radar) with 36K miles, black for $24.3k

Thanks guys for the advice. After talking to the mrs, we are going to wait for a while to see if price drops after mid year. The current high 20k's are still high for us and since I got my truck fixed, I'm going to drive it for a while until we find a GS in the color combo that we like.

@3GS350RWD, that is a nice color and one of my favorite too. I'm also on the look out for Glacier Mica.

Hope to join the crowd in a few months.
