Smile GS430 Tail Lamp Dim (out)

Hey guys,

I searched the forums and couldnt find anything addressing burn out/dim LED lamps. They appear lit but really dim, and from my understanding, LEDS burn out individually.... I havent stopped by the dealer yet, but Im sure they would like to sell me a whole new assembly.

I did however stop by autozone , and after we managed to remove the light assembly found out it was sealed. Any ideas?

Sorry for the crappy phone pic. The light is not that bright, its from the flash on the phone.

I have seen something similar on friend's Caddy. There was a problem with circuit board (partially fried). Had to replaced the lamp.

just buy a new light and swap it out. lot easier than trying to mess with it.

if you swap it out, will you try to find out why it act like that? Most the time LED don't burn out, and if they do they will burn out at the start. So I'm guessing another component went bad.

I have the 430 too so I would love to know why yours did that.

Before buying anything, I would put a volt meter to the electrical plug and test to see if it is getting power. Never know it could just be a fuse or something silly.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Do you know where to start for looking at the fuse or relay under the hood?

I called the dealership for replacement light assembly for a replacement LED/bulb and they quoted me for the entire assembly (Unit is sealed and non-serviceable).....$419!!

Any chance I can get this covered under some sort of warranty (car has 80K miles)?

I would try car-part.com to see if theres a local salvage yard in your area that has one. If not here are a couple on ebay.
