I know this topic has been covered in other threads, so I know it can be done. I would like to know who out there is currently running this size on a 3GS and, if so, do you have any regrets? I was in Costco yesterday to order Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus in 245 40 18 (the stock size), and they were telling me I should go with Michelin Primacy MXM4 in 235 45 18 if I want a quieter, smoother ride. I told them I would consider the Primacy MXV4 in 245 45 18, but they told me they would not install that size on my car because it is too far out of spec.

Anyway, just looking for some current real world experience. Thanks.

245/40-18 is the stock size. How is that out of spec? that is the PERFECT SPEC... that is the recommended spec. Search anywhere online for tires and you will see they give THIS SPECIFIC SPEC as OEM spec.

I bet they don't have it and just lying to you to sell you another tire.

No, they told me that 245 45 18 was out of spec.

I have the Birdgestone Turanza Serenity Plus in the 245 40 18 size on my GS350 AWD. I have to say they ride great, little to no road noise and excellent traction in a recent snow storm. Also has pretty good grip in the dry weather. Michelin is an excellent tire, but if you go to tirerack.com they rated the Bridgestone bvetter overall.

I have 245/45 18 on my 3GS AWD. (Michelin MXV4 Primacy) for the winter months.
Have been running 10mm spacers front, 15mm spacers rear, no issues.

Sorry, I don't know much about spacers. Is that something you have to do because of the size?

No, I got them for my ISF wheels. I use them on my 18s only because I like the look pushed out just a little. With or Without the spacers, it works just fine.

I purchased staggered wheels and I have not mount tires on them yet. Front tire size is 235-40-18 which is no problem. The rear tire size is 235-35-18 and the rear wheel offset is -18x10.5+15, will I need to fender roll even if my car is NOT lowered?

Thanks for posting the picture. That's great. I guess it looks a little taller, but that's only because we're used to seeing 40s on the 18s. I'm not concerned with the looks, I'm just concerned with rubbing, and I've heard that the tires will rub with the wheel fully turned in reverse.

I have 245 / 40 / 18 Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires on my 08 GS350 RWD.

Great tire. Quiet, smooth and handles very well.

Had them on my previous Infiniti G35........had it narrowed down to this tire and Michelin Primacy MXM4.

I have 245/45-18 Michelin Primacy MXV4's on my GS 350 RWD. I do rub on occasion but very rarely.

All in all, I would install the same size again. Good smooth ride, and excellent road feel. And extra sidewall. Love em.

Just curious, under what conditions to you rub (e.g., steering wheel fully turned in reverse?). Also, where on the car does it rub? I assume it hasn't caused any damage?
