Trunk Won't Open (Non-valet switch problem)
#16
Update - Went to the Lexus dealership, they did the initial diagonosis as something wrong with the electrical, kept the car for another hour and then said they need to order some parts worth $1200 but since its under warranty so I DONT have to pay anything, its all covered.
Yay for Lexus.

I tried all these things. No go.

I just wanted to actually join the forums and say thank you. The ECU-B fuse trick didn't work but removing the negative battery terminal for 15 seconds fixed my trunk. Thank you so much for the help.

I had the same problem. One morning the dash said the Trunk was open and neither the interior button, the key fob button, or the exterior trunk release button would do anything to open the trunk. The car thought the trunk was already open.
The only method to open the trunk was manually with the hard-key.
I called the dealer and even though they had never heard of this problem before (yeah right!), they said to bring it in and they could figure out what was wrong.
I searched and found this thread instead, and tried all the tricks outlined in here, including pulling the ecu-b fuse. That didn't work. Finally I opted to try pulling the negative battery cable and that did the job.
Thanks everyone - good job helping the community and saving people $$.

Worked!
Be sure to turn your vehicle completely off-OFF (close all doors & hit alarm button twice), before re-installing ECU-B fuse. First time I tried the car wasn't all the way off - and it didn't work!
Forget disconnecting battery, too many complications, Find the ECU-B Fuse in the Fuse box under the hood to the left, remove this fuse, start the car, stop the car, replace the fuse, restart the car and the trunk lid will OPEN. Worked for me today just fine on my GS350 same intent as battery without the other consequences, and your battery will stay just like it was...

Thank you for this thread
This thread helped me resolve the issue I faced this morning with my '07 GS350. I hit a speed bump, then my trunk popped open, I ran out and closed the trunk and drove away, minutes later my dash said the trunk is still open. I went home and was only able to open the trunk manually. I disconnected the battery for a couple minutes and reconnected, everything works now. Remember to reset your windows as well!
