Default Rear Differential Seal Leak By axle: Take to Lexus dealership or someplace else?

I have been taking my car to the nearest Toyota dealership since there isn't a lexus dealership in the city here.I took it in today to try to find out why the oil was burning and they couldn't find any seals or anything wrong with the front part of the car but did find a small leak in the rear differential and told me they can't fix it and to take it to the lexus dealership. Do you people recommend taking it to the Lexus dealership or have some other people fix it? or do some lexus dealerships fix cheaper then others? For example since I am a memember here, can I take this to Sewell Lexus in dallas and get any kind of discount over what Bossier City would? or I am just screwed and have to take it to the Dealership and pay their high repair cost. Those people charged me $325 to change out a HID bulb in the car. The car I have is an 06 gs 300 AWD.

That job is very simple, and I would take it to a small shop to fix it. Just buy the seal and the lube, I can't see a shop charging more then 60-$130

Do you know if its a pinion seal or axle seal leak (maybe a case leak)?

But if a 10-12 hour job and your Lex dealer is only charging you $741, that's a good price..

Just ask what the leak is and what parts/oil are required then the labor break out. Knowing that will allow you to judge if another opinion is required.

going to get it fixed at the dealership but won't get that $4000 engine job done since they are lying about a leak.
