Change Time- Is a 430 or 2007 GS 350 worth it?
Hi fellas,
I'm a current owner of 1998 Gs 400 as well as an IS 250. I love my GS 400 to death and was thinking of doing some paint work on it but discovered how expensive it could be with quotes of $3500 and above from body shop . The cost to paint and the value of the car wasn't making any sense to me since it has about 210 thousand miles on it and hence the thought of a used 350/430 came to mind.
With the above statement , is it really worth it for me to upgrade to a 3rd generation GS ? Without compromising my GS 400 speed and comfort ? I'm sure those of you who had owned either a GS3 or 4 would understand my dilemma , the reviews online haven't been too much of help to me either .
Your advice on this is very much appreciated because I'm thinking of getting one this weekend .
Current GS 400 stat.

2nd owner since 2001
All stock except radio Nav upgraded with a pioneer Avic d3 ( love it ) . Would I ever get the opportunity to upgrade the software stock on a 350 to something like the Avic ?
What's all this talk also about the car not quiet enough and rattling occasionally is that true ? And any fixes ?
Ok guys this is Latina's husband asking questions not Latina herself so don't start throwing flares all over the place .
SoCal inland couple....,. Will be selling the Gs 400 once purchase is made
Thanks

I just purchased an 07 gs350 and did a ton of research prior to purchasing it. The 2nd gen is a lot cheaper but in my eyes the 3rd gen was worth the extra cash. You get a much needed updated interior and exterior, great mileage, and plenty of power. The car drives really well and as far as the updated sound system I would recommend buying one that has the nav and doing the vaistech mod to integrate your phone. A for the rattles either the previous owner fixed them or you can fix them with felt between the panels.
I haven't owned a 2nd gen but I did test drive the two and my wife and I preferred the 3rd gen. Hope at helps

At this point the 3GS is cheaper now as the 4GS is out and the prices for the 3GS are going down, this would be the time to grab one with low miles. There is newer technology vs the 2nd gen which parts may be cheaper but I think the 3GS is taking over the 2nd gens place parts being a little more cheaper. I say go for it, if you have any questions just post them we should be able to answer them, good luck.

I am biased towards GS430s , because i own one. I always had a V8, love the torque and the sounds in makes. A year and a half later I a still happy with the car. I am not sure what to replace it with in a year or two.

Thanks for the advice guys . I ended up going for an AWD GS 350 :d . I hope that's a great choice too. Didn't know it was Awd until after I won the bid on eBay . I have 2 more days to sleep on it before committing fully
