VGSR Error
I have a 07 GS450H and recently when I press the power button for the car to start, it doesn't. I have to press it a few times before the car will start. An error message came up on the odometer that says "Check VGSR." Has anyone else had this error occur or can give me any advice about why it is coming on all of a sudden. I have had the car since 2010 and haven't had any accidents or anything in it. I just went over 46,000 miles. Can someone help? I know taking it to the dealership is an option, but b4 I give Lexus $130 to run a diagnostic, I was hoping someone had some advice for me.

Chances are your VGRS (Variable Gear Ratio Steering) motor has bitten the dust. A malfunctioning shaft motor would render your vehicle dangerous and these cars are pretty good about disabling features if its not safe to use them. I once had a Lexus Tech tell me, "Don't worry, if it's not safe to drive the car, it won't let you drive it.") They are very pricey (upwards of $2500 for the piece alone).
You're going to have to head to lexus for this one. Sorry!

I just had the same thing happen tonight. Tried to start a few times but the brake pedal just kicked back.
Then I opened the driver door and tried again, car started, and no warnings. Drove home fine.
Is it failing unit, a flaky connection?
