Feb. 2012 I had the front brake pads replaced on my 2006 GS 430. I went with the OEM pads. Over the months, I noticed when backing out of the garage, the front brakes would squeal. The squealing intensified as the months past and recently I started to hear the squeal when stopping at lights. I never had any problems with the original set of front pads so I started to suspect that the shims might be the culprit. When I had my tires rotated I asked the tire place to check the fronts pads. WELL, they told me that Toyota had neglected to install the front shims altogether ![EEK!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/eek1.gif)

So I called the Toyota place, that did my brakes, and scheduled an appointment for last week. I sarcastically told them my car sound like a New York subway train pulling into the station and told them I knew why. Boy were they embarrassed when they had to tell me that I was right. Well they made good and now all is right with the world again

i had the same problem with mine... anti squeal (red goop) didn't fix it
I had to goto lexus and purchase a front anti squeal shim kit
basically they are 2 plates that go on the backs of both pads in the front
as soon as i put those on, no more squeal
