Default Is it possible to connect aftermarket amp to factory amp?

I want to replace my Mark Levinson subwoofer with a JL audio 10w6 and power it with a JL audio amp. I was reading about AudioControl LC7i. Would that be necessary or is it possible just to get the signal for the amp from the factory amp?

Most JL amps can accommodate a high level signal by taking the positive and negative from your factory amp and hooking them to a male RCA jack. Some of their amps also have high level inputs that you can hook the wires to. This way you don't need the AudioControl piece.

Yes. Just run the sub speaker wires to the high level plug and you are set.

Sorry to chime in so late, but although AudioBob is right, after a while, if you're an audio junkie like me and want correct tuning for your box and subwoofer, you will want the Audio Control unit for your subwoofer, and if you want to replace your door speakers alongside that, you'll also want to tune that also..... So IMO you are pointing in the right direction with the Audio Control. I know I have regrets already as my system is at optimal listening levels as I wanted.
