screeeeecchhhhhh BANG; aka guess the damage
waiting at a light, hear screeching of tires under full lock. Glance in the rear view mirror to see a Corolla about to smack into us. Missed getting pushed into the van in front of us by less than a foot.
Will be getting estimates this week. I'm guessing $1500ish. Bumper cover, one of the center sensors and not sure of any structural or crush-able components under the cover.
Very fortunate that everything is still properly aligned where the cover meets the rear quarters and no issues with either power trunk alignment/operation nor exhaust issues.
Corolla didn't fare so well.

Hmm.... AudioBob makes a good point. Whatever you do, MAKE SURE the body shop removes your bumper cover and sees undercar damage. If there is, you have rebars and stuff behind that that would cost in the hundreds. Make sure you have photos as proof, as a lot of ins fraud has been floating around and ins companies have started to crack down on that stuff lately.

I had this happen as well, but was pushed into the car in front of me also. After factoring in aftermarket parts and what not, total was around 3500 for front and rear.
Arnie - are you serious about the 'Diminished Value' claim? I have not heard of this before. I am facing that issue now that I am thinking of trading the car in. thanks

sorry to hear about your accident twylie. most important thing tho is your health. get checked by your doctor for any whiplash or back problems. i got rear ended over a year ago, and i'm just now getting better after a year's worth of massage and physiotherapy.

Now the fun of dealing with her insurance, a rental, and the body shop begins.

As a heart attack. Two of my friends got into crashes recently, one had a 2013 MBZ E350, damage was around $4500, he got the car fixed and the insurance company paid him $3800 for diminished value. Another guy had a high school girl running into his parked 2006 Chevy PU, causing $6500 in damages. The truck was fixed and the insurance paid him around $4000 for diminished value.
Here is some info for you.
Neither one of my friends used a lawyer, they just asked the insurance adjustors for diminished value reimbursement.

My car was rear ended by a lady in a stop and go traffic on the Mass Pike.
She let her car rolling and hit my rear bumper.
The estimate is $380. Repair and repaint the pumper.
Bring the car in tomorrow for repair.
If it wasn't for the cut by the right bolt, I wouldn't have it repaired.
