Default iVic 5i Mounting Location in 07 GS350

I got my ivic 5i last week, pulled my console apart, but I didnt see an obvious place to put the unit. Does anyone have a reccommendation or prior experience in installing one of these in an 07 GS? Please help! I want to install it myself, but my next step is to take it to a shop and let them figure it out.

I tried to install one in my 07 GS430, and never found a good place. Tried under both front seats, and it fits..barely...but you can't move the seat back and forth. There is no room inside the consul. I then tried it in the arm rest and it fits, but it was not pretty at all. Really a pita.
The problems I see with it:
1) the box is too big
2) has connections on both sides of it, which makes it very hard to fit in tight spots
3) needs airflow to not overheat
To boot, the iVIC never ended up working in my car(no touch screen control). So my many hours finding a good spot for it were a waste of time. Took everything back out and sent back for full refund. Reason I'm telling you this is not to trash talk them at all...I loved every other aspect of it, and would have kept it if the touch worked....but I highly recommend you see if it even works in your car before cutting, drilling, fabricating, etc to fit the unit perfectly.

Hate to hear that! I can't stand using the tape deck adapter. Since you didn't use the ivic, what did you decide to go with? I was looking forward to the great functionality of the ivic. Did they give you any hassle about returning it?

In your glovebox there's a door, punch it open with your thumb or finger from inside the console end and you'll be able to run wires through to sit your ivic inside there.

GL!

I'll look for that in my glovebox. I guess I would need a longer lightning cable or did you just keep your phone in the glovebox?

No hassle at all with the return. They were very helpful trying to work out my issues, but we never got it to work. Sent me a new one for free to try and see if it was hardware related. I even updated my nav to the latest version at thier recommendation and that didn't work either. I ended up buying an ipod to rca cable adaptor...so now just plug my phone in. Sound quality sucks compared to the iVIC. I used the little door in the glove box for this cable, as mentioned above. I did not try the iVIC in the glove box.

I mounted my IVIC-D under the glove box/ air bag, above the plastic cover. The plastic cover underneath are held by clips, you literally pop them out. I used Velcro to hold the IVIC in place and sticky pads on top to avoid vibration and noise. Had this install for about 6 months, no issues at all.

Yeah there enough space but just barely. You have to find the right angle so it fits without having to crush the ivic or bending the plastic cover
