Default VVT Actuator Recall and Spark Plugs ??

My 07 GS350 RWD is going in Monday for the safety recall DLG which is the VVT actuator gear recall. My car has 108k and will need plugs at 120k. Does anyone know if the plugs are removed during this recall? If so I will leave some new Denso plugs for the tech to replace in lieu of reinstalling the old ones.

Thanks in Advance

It's not required, but they will be much easier to replace at the same time. I've heard of people getting them installed for a discount or free. It wouldn't take much to replace them at that point.

i just called and spoke to the advisor who said the tech could do plugs at the same time for 1 hour labor. I said that 1 hour is too much for the job since he has already removed the coil packs for the job. Half hour would be plenty IMO for a Lexus Certified Tech. I will be talking to the service manager on monday to see if I can get it done for 1/2 hour labor. Otherwise I will just do it myself this spring.

My service advisor said I would save well over $100.00 in labor costs if I had the plugs replaced at the same time the recall work was done. Since I was at 57k miles anyway, I had them do it.

That's 10min per plug. Seems a bit high, but not totally unreasonable considering its a dealer$hip and they probably have a one hour minimum charge. I would think they would offer a deeper discount considering the inconvenience of having to bring your car in for recall work.

I'm pretty sure I could change all 6 plugs in 10mins if everything else was already out of the way.

I got a new GS350 as a loaner, and put 180 miles on it doing all my holiday shopping. Also, I have the Lexus Visa Pursuits card and had enough points to cover the plugs and brake fluid change.

Had same recall service done recently and had new plugs put in because of labor savings.
