06 GS300 Y-Pipe replacement?$$$$
I just took my GS to the shop for exhaust noise & was told I had multiple holes in my "Y" pipe. He also referred to it as the "mid" pipe. (supposedly can't be patched) Are these names interchangeable?
1st Lexus dealer in E. Hartford, CT quoted the part for $1650.00!! 2nd Lexus dealer Warwick, RI quoted $1576.00!! Online turned up this http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...ucts_id=104520 which is less than $400.00.
Common sense tells me these are not the same thing so what's my next step?
Any help is welcomed & appreciated.

I paid $364 for my Invidia midpipe and it sounds beautiful. I had to install 90* o2 extensions for another ~$35 but no big deal.
I'm not sure what you're looking for in your car, but the invidia midpipe is very close to stock sound and only gets slightly louder in the higher rpm range. It's a very mild change, but sounds fantastic.
Just clicked your link. That is in fact the same part. The dealer just charges an outrageous amount for parts like that.

For the past few days, everytime when I turned the enigne off, I heard light popping sounds around the catalyst converter for 1/2 minute.
Is it a sign of catalyst converter going bad or leaking mid pipe?
Or just a metal is cooling down.

Easy repair cost me $25 bucks at a muffler shop. First he removed both clamps on both sides and removed the heat shields. Then they cleaned the pipes and welded them together. Easy fix! No hissing! Its been 1 year with no issues

The problem is though ibidu, the exhaust shop told him it was irrepairable.
I'd just do what schmexus said, get the invidia pipes and that should solve the corrosion problem altogether. Usually exhaust shops will do a custom y-pipe for a few hundred bucks also... You can even keep all OEM components.
See if you can send your car off to ANOTHER shop and get requoted.
