2008 Lexus GS460.....decisions decisions!!
Fellow CL members, I have been contemplating for the last few days whether or not to jump on this 08 GS460. The reason I am contemplating is because back in October 2013 an accident was reported involving the left front of the vehicle. According to the Carfax report the damage was labeled moderate to severe. The car is located in North Carolina about 350 miles away. Just wanted to get some thoughts on what to do whether I should leave it alone or pursue it.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Lol I personally never would, but if the work was done right and the price is right you can get a nice car at a discounted price.
Id look into how extensive the damage was, how well it was repaired and how much of a discount you're getting for it.

The seller is willing to take the car to Lexus dealer in N.C. and have it checked out at my expense. I normally wouldn't buy a car that was in a prior accident but if it was only cosmetic, say for instance a left front fender, and it was repaired correctly I wouldn't be against picking it up still. I guess worst case scenario, I am out the $150.00 pre-inspection fee that Lexus charges to look over the car...appreciate all the advice and input thus far.

I PERSONALLY wouldn't buy a car that has a tarnished title; however, if I were going for a car that's a bit out of my price range (for one that's in tip top shape), I'd snag one up as long as it checks out mechanically and the repair work was done properly. Let's say I really wanted a GS460, but all I could afford is a GS350... If a 460 with minor cosmetic repairs came into the same/similar price range, I'd go for the 460. I dunno, kind of a goofy scenario, but just my .02. Best of luck!

$25k private party for an 08 with 44k miles and a "moderate to severe" accident seems kinda steep, doesn't it?
"Fair" condition is what I would consider it with the accident. I guess that's about right, but damn...that seems like you could find one with a clean history for just a little more.

Yes absolutely agree....it would makes things easier if theses GS460's were a dime a dozen but trying to find a lower mileage one seems to be a daunting task. I was able to track down a really clean 06 GS 430 just not sure what route to go.

I personally would take the repaired 460 over the 430. After driving the 460 (though similar to the 430), there's no turning back. And in all honesty, like txcoupe said, it will harm the resale, so if you plan on buying a good car that you plan on driving for a long time, and it checks out alright, just go for it I say
