just got a call from the dealer to get this done. Gonna wait a month or two.

Wow. I thought it was just the car. I just bought my 08 GS in December and I would only get around 17 mpg average. I got the recall fixed a few weeks ago and my mog defiantly improved. Previously I was filling up weekly but now today is Saturday the 21st and I last filled up Monday the 9th and still have a quarter tank left. I now average around 22.8 mpg without any change in my driving pattern. Needless to say, I'm happy. My work was done at metro lexus in cleveland ohio.

does anyone have the recall bulletin details? I'm wondering how complicated the recall fix is.

is it invasive surgery?

no, unless you had a leak already, and then it would go back to whatever mpg you got on day 1

So online it reads the remedy as

Safety Recall ELF - Remedy Notice - Various Models - Potential Fuel Pressure Sensor Leak
Status

Remedy Available
Description

In the subject vehicles, the sealing property of the gasket seated in between the pressure sensor and the fuel delivery pipe could become degraded. During vehicle operation, fuel could leak past the gasket.
Remedy

Any authorized Lexus dealership will repair the fuel pressure sensor sealing surface and replace the gasket at No Charge to you.

I've had mine fixed about a month ago and mine run fine. It actually seems like I'm getting better mpg.

The recall has disappeared from the Lexus Canada site for me, still haven't received anything further than the initial mailing notifying about the problem. Not sure what's going on. I had them look for fuel leaks while my car was in for service to correct an oil leak due to a bad seal on the oil pan as a result of the piston rings job and they said they found none so I guess it is no big deal just wondering what is taking so long up here as I want my free wash and gas. =)

Default Coincidence?

Given the high # of recalls my 2006 GS300 has been subject to I have a reminder to visit the Toyota/Lexus recall site every year just to check if any new recalls have been issued. About 4 weeks ago I discoved this recall when I input my VIN into the system. I had not received a call or email or letter about this recall.

The strange thing was that 15 minutes after I discovered the recall on my own, my dealer called me to "notify me of the recall". Either this is the strangest coincidence of all time or Lexus is doing "silent recalls" waiting for customers to discover the recall before acting on it.

Behavior I'd expect from Kia not Lexus.

Recall was done and the car is fine (well, if a car with a bad exhaust/y-pipe can be fine) - no meaningful change in mpg.
