Computer problems in my GS350
I've been trolling the threads to see if anyone else has had this problem. We have just bought (in the last four months) a used 2010 GS350. We love love love it. But, over the weekend, we noticed that the computer stuff (the nav system, audio, climate - anything accessible through the touch screen and surrounding buttons) stopped working or is working verrrrry slowly. Click 'Climate' and it takes a minute or two for the screen to populate the climate controls. Radio not working except on this long delay. Etc. Add to all that, the reverse camera comes on only intermittently now, it is otherwise blank.
We are a few hundred miles away from the factory warranty expiration. Before we haul a$$ down to the Lexus dealership, is this anything anyone's experienced? And is there a simple fix? (Like rebooting the computer, or whatever....)
Thanks!
New Lexus Owner.

Could be something as simple as a bad battery...or it could be the navi brain or whatever they call that ECU. This car is very sensitive to bad batteries and alternators. I would call and schedule an appointment now...especially if you don't have an extended warranty.

Thanks for the tips. We called Lexus and discovered that our warranty expired the day before (of course!). We bought the car used and thought we had a 36,000 mile warranty (car has less than that). It actually has an end date. Ok...anyway, we are going to try checking the battery before we do anything else. I appreciate you pointing that out, and I hope that's the solution! It'll be cheaper, that's for sure!

The saga continues...
So yes, of course, the warranty is 4yrs/50k miles. I honestly don't know why we thought it was 36k but whatever. We really didn't think we'd need the warranty or that it would expire before we needed it because the car runs so great otherwise. We also drive very little. Anyway, we replaced the battery with help from our very trusty local mechanic and the computer situation improved....but not fixed. Still very slow response on about every third touchscreen command. Also a weird distortion on the map screen when accessing the navi details.
Ok, so in the meantime, I'm digging around in the manual and come across the vehicle delivery certificate from the first owner. It's dated the very day that my husband first called Lexus, not the day after like they had told him. I read the warranty manual and it says warranty starts from first delivery. That means we called Lexus a on the very last day and so now we have a case manager on it. A lucky break for sure. Hope this all works out. I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to need a new navi board and screen...

Yes warranty starts on date of purchase not from build date. Normally they will one time good will if warranty is only out a couple of days. Otherwise you may have to print out some phone records to show you called them about your issue prior to warranty expiring.
Good luck with your case hope it works out

Well, Lexus stepped up and honored the warranty. The problem was - fortunately - simple enough, a software update. They took care of it quickly, gave us a very nice loaner to drive for the few days they kept our car, and just generally took care of us. Yay! This is our first Lexus, and if this is the kind of service we can expect, it won't be the last.

Damn that awesome! I'm actually trying to get them to goodwill a headlamp on my gs now. Good job on Lexus's part for stepping up.
