I need to replace both rear tires. All four of my tires are Hankook Ventus ES H105 XL 225/50R-17. Does the back tires have to match the same design and threads as front tires? These tires are discontinued but I don't want to have to change all 4 tires.
I like to stay with Hankook if possible if not what are other good options?
Ok thanks in that case what do you recommend? Drive only in NYC so not snowy all time.
I have bridgestone insigna SE 200 on my front 225/50/17 and hankook ventus V2 same size... as far as i can tell they're decent but not good in deep snow...Bu then again my threads are almost gone... i feel as if the car feels alitte bit of slip it'll cut off any power... recently my right front bridgestone caught a bubble in it and i'm still drivng with it... I hear a lot of bad stuff from bridgestone... I suggest looking at tirerack.com they have a lot of reviewers n it honestly worth the extra money on good set a tires since its the only thing connecting you to the ground! based off reviews I just the Hankook S1 nobles
^ seeing how traffic is major in NYC, I don't think road noise will be an issue since he can't do 0-60mph to the next red light. hehehe
NYC speed limit is 25 LOL but everyone still goes about 30-40 because screw that law its only due to the bicycles apparently. they seem to think they're gods or something and that the laws of traffic don't apply to them! I almost hit one of them in the city cause they dont even look both ways sometimes!
Another reason would be because our DOT (department of transportation) don't know how to fix pot holes or something which is ridiculous! every quarter mile you'll see about 1-100 pot holes.
are you asking me? or OP? I've had hankooks so I like to be a loyal fan i wouldn't mind trying michelin or perilli's... but i cant spend a lot of tires right now... totall cost would be $700 with installment, alignment, tire checking if they have a defect... havent bought it yet tho lol
my question open to anyone really. Just want to know why you prefer Hankook, what's so good about it? I never had it or tried it, if it's really good sure I would want to try it.

Well this isn't a track toy or anything but I feel mostly the suspension setup is too soft for my taste and i feel like it'll roll over if i corner too hard... i've never made the tires squeal or anything... When i started driving, it was the original set up i believe with probably 4/32 of tread left or maybe more on my hankooks and bridgestone... 225/50/17 on all tires. To me i feel they are pretty good at handling water traction is good... I hydro planed once through a big puddle going about 60-70mph? but it was only for a little while thought my life was ganna end snow wise it works in low speeds 0-40 is the fastest ive gone in them. catching traction on ice is low or probably impossible since theyre not winter tires. In the dry well you could expect the rest... i've never had problems with them and my brothers dont remember anything about the tire history...
hankook ventus v2
bridgestone insgina 200 SE

As i recommened to OP, check out tirerack.com they have ratings on tires and reviews from people who buy them. What tires do you use? I've never experienced racing tires so i'm not entirely sure... I wish other accts would chime in on this... or you could post a new thread and ask !
