Guys thanks for all the comments and advice, it is GREATLY appreciated. I'm definitely going to have Lexus or a reputable shop do a pre purchase inspection. Now if the total repair cost is less than $2500 I would consider getting it but I would ask the owner to come down on the price to 3000.

you could buy that for a winter car and still get a newer gs350,thats what i did, kept my miles low on my newer one,
Sweet! Will they put a 3.5v6 in it? I think that engine have over 300hp. Now I do want to get it if Lexus would rebuild the engine for free.

If I get it, I will ask him to come down to 3k.

even if you put 3000 into it you still win,

that's still a great deal.
If I get it and Lexus rebuilds the engine at zero cost I will gladly pay for the spark plugs and water pump.
After reading all the comments, I'm definitely leaning towards getting it. Forgot to mention the car will definitely need some serious head light restoration, I know that's very minor tho.

I would not touch that car. Better off getting a second Gen 430. This car will be a nightmare. Better off spending 12 grand on one that everything is good and less miles.

I actually prefer the 2nd gen gs, to me they are almost bullet proof for reliability and the styling is iconic. ONLY because of the price am I considering this 06gs300. If the total repair cost is under 2500 (fingers crossed) I would strongly consider getting it.

You can get a second Gen for under 5k I got mine for 4800 4 years ago with 150k miles on it

I guess you can always buy this one and part it out and make a profit

The problem you are going to run into is you wont know if Lexus will rebuild it until after you purchase it and go through the steps. You also need to know the in-service date as you only have 9 yrs, after that they won't help you. And from what you are telling us that seems like even without the engine you might have more than $2,500 in repairs and other parts. I'm sure there is a very good reason as to why they want to sell it so cheap. It would be worth it if I was the owner to get Lexus to rebuild it then sell it if it is that easy. Just be careful.

exactly what i was thinking as well. Factory dealerships are always more likely to assist an original owner/current owner on issues like this. (Lexus or not). Taking a big chance, unless you can confirm BEFORE the purchase that you can get the rebuild for free, imo.

Well this looks like it might be a no go. I tried to contact the owner Monday but for whatever reason I couldn't get in contact with him, apparently something wrong with his phone. I have a reputable shop down the street from my house that would've only charge me $48 to do a pre purchase inspection. Unless I hear from him I Will Gladly pass on this car. I prefer a 98-00 Ls400 or a 98-05 gs300.

Not now they won't. At least they denied me for being a couple months outside the 9 year window. If you got a free engine rebuild on a used 2006 GS with 180K, I'll drink the used oil out of my crankcase. That is, if there's any left after 4000 miles of it getting burned up by my defective piston rings.

Quick Reply: 2006 gs300 180k miles for $3500 good deal?
