Gas smell on 08 gs450h
Hi everyone, new to the site. I took my 450h to Lexus and my friend at the service sAid it's more than likely the "rollover valve, intermitently opening and closing". His exact word, my bad spelling. He said it may not be but if it is, it is godd few hours of labor to replace the $30 part, resulting with nearly a thousand dollar bill.
I have a few questions. If it takes a few hours to get to this pArt, it may ver well not be that! I have checked the fuel tank cover and fuel injectors. Seals right and no leaks.
1) could it be something else/simple?
2)if it is rollover valve, can i take it to a local mechanic to save on the bill?
3)if it is rollover valve, is it dangerous not to fix it?
Thank you

Can you pin point the area which you smell fuel the strongest. There is a recall for fuel pressure sensor leaking, located backside of engine towards passenger side firewall. Try calling your dealership to see if your vehicle has this recall

thank you very much for the reply, and I apologize for not mentioning the recall. The recall for my car has been done. During the recall inspection I was told that the gas smell may be related to the rollover valve.
to answer your question, the gas smell seems to come from the engine area, but its hard to tell..That is why I am not sure if it is related to the rollover valve. since the rollover valve is at the fuel tank area, I would expect the smell to come from that area, but I may be very wrong. There is no error code... And during the recall inspection, I know they didn't have enough time to open up the fuel tank area to see if it's the rollover valve that is the faulty part. They are making an ieducated guess .
