My extended warranty just paid for itself.
Took my car in for the VVT/Fuel Sensor Gasket recall a week ago, later that day the SA called me and told me that my water pump had a seepage (never saw any coolant on the ground), and my front left axle had a loose CV joint, which caused noticeable vibration under heavy acceleration.
They told me that the new axle was $1040 and the new water pump was $435. Interestingly enough, I paid $1415 for the extra 4-years/25K miles of Lexus Platinum Care warranty. My car currently has 60K miles.
It took them a couple of days to get the axle, so I just picked up the car today. While they were working on the VVT recall, I asked them to replace the spark plugs, which they did. I paid $120 for the plugs, but Lexus did not even charge anything for labor, despite that fact that they quoted me, and I authorized, 1/2 hr for $70. They also filled up the gas tank.
While I am a little disappointed that at only 60K miles those two items needed replacement, at least I got my money's worth out of the extended warranty.
My loaner was a 2014 E300h Hybrid. I've never driven a hybrid before. I got great gas mileage, averaged 37 MPG, but I hated driving that thing. That car had no soul. I was very happy to pick up my GS today.

It's a good feeling to have the coverage when you need it. I think that's a better way to go than CPO.
