GS350 Paint Repair
Hello,
My name is Joe, and I am working on a friend's 2008 GS350. Among other things, I would like to repair the clear coat issues on the factory rear spoiler on the trunk. The rest of the paint is fine on the entire car, with the exception of that spoiler. My original plan was to remove the spoiler from the vehicle, then sand and refinish. While researching the most preferred method to remove the spoiler, it seems that these are not as easy to remove as I had wished. It seems there is some discrepancy on the forums here as to how easy removing the spoiler is.
Should I actually try to remove the spoiler and paint off of the vehicle, or should I just mask the entire car and paint the spoiler? Paint match will not be an issue, as I can easily color match without problems either way I do this. I just want to ensure that I do not end up doing more damage or work then what was planned with the actual repair.
Thanks!

Well I would leave it on there if you could. Just tape and cover the area so not to get overspray on the car. The oem double sided tape is very strong once its cured.

Jdmek998... Thank you.. I can definitely tape around and prep while on the car. Thanks for the confirmation. I never like creating more repairs if i don't have to!
Thanks again!

Yea no problem. I personally feel better to leave it on, so you don't have any issues trying to re-install it.
