RACE : GS430 vs E46 M3

The GS430 is a mid-14@95-96ish mph car. That makes it slower than even a ES350, which does mid 14s at 99-100mph. An E46 M3 convertible is a high 13 second car at 101-104. Even the GS 350 AWD is a high 13s @100-ish.
How does that play out for you? Since your mods are doing pretty much nothing in terms of actual power, it means that if he can drive and he has his top up(aerodynamics make a huge difference), he'll beat you pretty badly. And don't race an ES350, because a decent driver in one would beat you, too. That race might be closer, but I doubt you want to risk having to admit you lost to an ES350.
It also means that the race between a GS350 and a M3 convertible would be closer, but a good driver would out-edge the GS 350.

no way a 430 is slower than an ES.
ES is heavy and underpowered.

You realize an ES350 is 200lbs lighter than the GS 430, right? Not only that, but if the ES were actually as heavy and underpowered as you say it is, the quarter mile would reflect that. However, it doesn't. The fact is, an ES is 3-4 mph faster in the quarter mile, even with the FWD disadvantage. That makes it faster than a GS.
Result? A GS 430 is slower than an ES350. Go run one with an equal driver if you don't believe me, you'll probably get a few car lengths pulled on you.

False. Fact find bro. I've dusted 350's all day

Not even a 2016 ES has a 5.7 0-60

2. 0-60 means little, since it's fwd vs rwd. Even then, the ES still does it in 6.2 seconds. You have a slight advantage, but the ES will still pull past you as you go past 60. From a roll it'll pull you even worse. Probably 3-4 cars from a normal 60-120 roll.
3. The quarter mile results don't lie. It gets to the end in the same time going faster, despite your .5 second 0-60 advantage. An ES350 is faster. If you truly want to dispute this, go to a track and see if you can run any faster than mid 14s at 99. If you can't, that just shows the car is slower.

Track time really depends how high above sea level you are. There are no apples to apples comparisons on the same track on the internet.
ES350 has to lug more weight per horsepower even with the 200 lbs weight advantage.
and the GS430 has more torque.
That tells me there's no way ES350 could be faster.

Being an ES350 owner, you're obviously biased but that's understandable.
Unless you run a GS430, you won't really know will you?
I find it very very difficult to believe that an ES350 can pull on any GS model... not even a GS300.
You're better off racing a Camry! Same car!
That's a 7 second car!

Which ES350's are we talking here? I think a GS430 would have a tough time with the 2013+ Model year ES's, I doubt so much with an '07-12 model type. Factoring in updates to tranny shifting, power mapping and all the other tech updates newer cars get. I've driven all models of Lexus's with the exception of the RC coupes and feel the GS has a better pull once mid-power band. The ES (MY '07-12) has 278 HP iirc. The GS430 has 300hp with a ****load more torque, so even with a 200lb disadvantage I would imagine it to win out with it's drivetrain layout and aerodynamics playing a factor, and the torque making the extra weight a non-issue. Having driven an ES350 and a GS[any engine] I personally would think the 430 would edge it out. Now the 2013 ES's may be a different story...and like I originally said - the M3 and GS430 race would be an M3 victory, but not a land slide. If the speeds get to 90+, then the M3 is going to put car lengths between the 2 easily. Post the vid after if you have one!

Maybe you guys (majority) with 6's , never felt the torque n power of a 430. Let alone in those modes .
GS soaring at 148 mph, sounds like a gulfstream
Count from seconds :02 - :07 and this is W/O power and Sport!!!

This thread reminds me of the old SC430 vs IS350 thread where the SC430 owners were in complete disbelief that their mid-$60k V8 sports coupe would get decimated by a lower-tier V6 sedan (I've owned both and can attest to that fact):
