Default Proximity Key not being recognized

My '06 GS 300 recently had a dead battery. Due , I think, to the alternator going bad. After jumping the battery and attempting to drive it to a mechanic, the car quit running and I ended up having the car pushed the rest of the way. Now the proximity key is not being recognized to start the car. When I push the button once, the accessories come on; but when I push it the second time to attempt to start the car - nothing happens. The message "key not detected" appears. I have recharged the car battery and recently changed the small batteries in both of my proximity keys.........so that isn't the problem.
Would appreciate any advice anyone might have. Thanks

Hold the fob to the start button, almost like using the fob to push the button. That will use the short range capability that is there for when your key battery is dead. Not saying its the key battery, but try that and let me know.

Default Proximity Key

Thanks for the quick response Joe. No, it's not the key battery.............I just changed them in both of my keys. I strongly suspect that the problem is on the car end..............maybe an engine disabler in the computer??

I know, I am trying to rule out proximity communication issues.
