Roof Drip Side Finish Moulding - paint peeling
Our red mica '06 has paint ripples on the entire length of these crappy roof strips. This car has about 115k miles and has ALWAYS been garaged.
IMO, this is a quality issue, and even though our car is 10 years old, Lexus should own up to having made a substandard part and fix it for free. They look ugly and are actually dangerous - the paint will give you a hell of a "paper cut" if you run your hand along them inadvertently (like when hand washing the car).
Anyone here have any advice about these?

it's stainless steel. Dunno how well paint sticks to it. I wonder why lexus didn't paint them.
Everywhere I look, people say they tried painting stainless steel, and paint just chipped off afterwards.
Mine peeled in a few places too. I'm playing cat and mouse with it, applying superglue as needed.
In other models, where the drip moulding is plastic, it is painted instead of the vinyl metallic wrap crap.
My drip moulding also unclips itself and pops up everyday under the sun's heat.
If it gets really bad, I guess I'll just peel it all off and go with the stainless steel look

I'm having the same issue with my 2008 GS... I've thought about having them wrapped in carbon fiber, but not sure I want to break up the clean look by making them a different color than the rest of the car. I was quoted $80 to do both weather strips. Not sure what I'm going to do just yet; but it definitely sucks....

I'm lucky enough to have everything still intact with no peeling whatsoever, I did get my roof vinyl wrapped in gloss black for that clean european sleek look. You just have to watch bird droppings cause they leave markings on the wrap. Just my $0.02 to share my friend. I've gotten a lot of compliments of my ride and its near complete. I may post up vid of my roof w/ the matching roof spoiler I got from eBay.
Japanese paint is super thin, like my wife's scion Tc and my old G35 cpe, both happened to have this faded look of the clearcoat stripped and the actual paint becoming dull. I'd just have it redone by some reputable mom & pops paint shop (they've done my front lip & skirts for $400) and get it vinyl wrapped for another 150. You have to act soon though man before it gets worse like rust on metal. Goodluck.

The roof and horizontal surfaces definitely fade and get pitted if not frequently waxed.
