factory 32PSI not enough?
So i've been wondering about my PSI on my tires ever since i got new ones. The shop that put air in my tires put the PSI up to about 35-40PSI? not sure entirely sure cause i didn't have time to check... I decided to let out the air back to factory 32PSI and started to regret it. I feel like the sidewall that's actually touching the road is not inflated enough... I also had a set of tires before where the alignment hasn't been fixed for a while and was always running 32PSI but the side walls ended up being deminished first.
I was just curious what kind of PSI you guys are running I am running on Cooper tires 225/50/R17 32PSI (maybe lower PSI do to weather in NY)
TL;DR : What PSI are you guys running in your tires? Is the factory 32PSI too low ruining my sidewalls?

Actually, on a RWD car, if the pressure isn't the same, the higher pressure should always be on the rear tires. Example, BMW recommended 32 front, 36 rear on my '10 3Series..

thanks for the post and help guys, I agree with Mesca and Tony. I put in up about 38 PSI all around (AWD) and since winters coming I decided why not it'll probably take it down alittle bit, plus it feels so much better and responsive!!!
Question about road noise... In your GS's does road noise come from the tires or is the deadening not as great?

That would be for cold.
The reason I put the front slightly more than the rear is the weight balance is 52%(F)/48%(R). I'm basing my decision on the loading principle.
Road noise can be attributed a lot to the tires you have on and how worn they are. What tires do you got? I remember I had Falken FK452's and I will never buy that tire again. It was incredibly loud when it got worn, extremely low tread life and bubbled easily.

I got Cooper Tires RS- 3A 225/50/R17 they're cheap tires and the reviews were good so I don't have much complaints can't wait for the snow to try them out!

if the sides are going bald, you don't have enough air
if the middle is going bald, you have too much.
air pressure is really arbitrary. You set to your own preference
