Default Engine noise

Recently traded in a 2004 ES330 for a Lexus Certified Pre-owned 2009 GS 350 AWD with 32,000 miles. Wasnt in the market for a GS but with such low miles and it being a CPO and the price was in my budget so went for it. Once I got it home, I am starting to notice the engine noise, like its kinda loud. For some reason didnt notice it while doing the test drive but now, its like when I am driving, I get concious about it so much so that I have to turn the radio on to take my mind off of it.
So was just curious if its the case with every GS. My 2004 ES had less of an engine noise, and I am thinking the GS is a CPO so it shouldnt be something out of the norm but still wanted to get some perspective here for peace of mind.

what noises are you referring to? Is it a ticking sound, because that's normal.

hmm, dont know about a ticking sound. Its hard for me to explain, its just that its kinda loud even when I start the engine, and I know its a bigger engine, but stil. I always had this thing where I only buy Japanese assembled cars and my family knows that and the other day I was with my brother-in-law and I started the car, for the first time in front of him, and he asks me if I am sure this is Japanese assembled, which was kind of embarrassing. Maybe I need to stop a stranger in a parking lot somewhere who is driving a 3rd gen GS and try and compare.

You can thank direct injection for that. Sounds like what you're experiencing is normal.

Sounds normal to me. My '08 460 has a slight knock, and you can hear it really easily in parking garages while accelerating. Only has 25k on it. All normal, but still annoying.

Is it the chatter on start-up? Check this out (there is a video in post #110):

An engine noise that occurs during acceleration can be caused by a number of things such as a faulty EGR valve, carbon buildup, and low octane build up.

Thanks for the link msgs350. I think I am going to take my car to my local Lexus dealer ( I bought my car from a different Lexus dealer 50 miles away) the next time I need an oil change and have them check it and see. I could probably live with the noise if it was just at startup, but its pretty much through out the drive, and I just bought this car like 5 months ago but luckily its a CPO so I have a 3 year warranty on it.
