Default About to Purchase a GS 460

Hi All,

I am about to purchase a GS 460 for a good price but the only caveat is that it had body work done and it was in an accident a couple years ago.

I had the car inspected and everything seems to have been repaired correctly and that there was no structural damage identified.

The car is a few grand under market value so it is priced correctly.

The inspection shows that the car drove correctly and was inspected by a ex Lexus mechanic.

I am buying the car from out of state so I had to hire an inspection company to check out the car.

My plan is to drive the car for 5 years and trade it in later on down the road if I want to another car.

I wanted to see how others feel purchasing a car that was previously repaired. Would you do it?

I had a car that I previously in an accident and drove the same after repaired.

By the way, I was cross shopping the IS F with the GS and decided on the GS because I can enjoy the car with the entire family and be comfortable in it.

Although, this will be my 3rd car.

Thanks all.

Ed

You could be like me and buy a 460 that's valued with no damages, then later find out Carfax was 14 months late on their report that shows front end damages Turns out the whole front bumper, passenger side headlight, fog light, and fender were replaced. Now, would I have bought it knowing it was in a wreck? Probably not, especially at the price I paid. Would I have bought it for $4-5k less? Maybe. As long as the repairs were done right, and all checks out fine, I say offer a few grand less and see if you get lucky. Best of luck!

Oh, and I was doing the same kind of shopping as you: GS460 or IS-F. Was much happier with all the room in the GS, which is a big deal for me since I'm tall. The IS-F made it tough to make my decision when I gave it some gas, but the 460 is no slouch.

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry to hear about that, it had happened to me before with another car.

The dealer i am working with already priced the car below market by a few grand and they will not move the price at all. Although, they advertise the car as a clean history vehicle.

I am debating to buy this at the asking price.
Thanks.

Curious to see what this GS looks like, could you post a link to it?

Other than the passenger headlight being slightly cleaner than the driver, and the silver brake calipers (non-oem aftermarket?) it looks pretty nice.

The rear wheels are a different color from the front.

I initially thought they were from the brake dust.

Is that a red flag?

Could mean a couple things:
-Cheap knockoffs were used because the original wheels up front were damaged beyond repair.
-The wheels were lightly damaged in the accident and repainted (poorly), then moved to the back.

I don't know if it's a red flag, but definitely something to bring up when purchasing (if you do). See if you can work out a deal to get them all painted to match. And check to see if they're cheap knockoffs. I almost bought a GS430 with knockoff wheels that I noticed last minute.

Unfortunately I am from out of state and the 7 days starts after the contract is signed.i have to transport it to my state which will probably go over the 7 days period.

If you want my honest opinion, then I say pass. Another will eventually come along. If it was crashed hard enough to where they needed to move the wheels around after repainting them, then who knows what could go wrong in the future.
