I recently replaced my pads and rotors and when I pulled everything out there were no shims? is that ok run without shims? my rotors were warped bad and I'm wondering if that was part of the cause? my pads had plenty off life left but I changed them anyways? Doing the rear to since I still feel a light wobble when on real smooth pavement...

I don't think it would have caused any rotor issues, no. Typical issues from a lack of shims would be noise-related.

ok thanks, I guess ill leave it as is for now. I haven't had any abnormal sounds coming from the brakes...yet

No shims most likely who ever replaced the last brakes didnt use oem pads. Many non-oem pads would have a shim riveted on. Same thing happened with my car, previous owner replaced the brakes with non-oem. No issues here!

Yea the pads I took off said car quest on the back of the pads, the pads I put on had a nice backing already. Akebono full ceramic pads, its funny because I also got them from car quest..

Some pads come with a coating that works to stop the squealing instead of the shims, no good if you go back to a non coated pad though...
