Default satellite radio question

my vehicle - 2009 gs450h with mark levinson sound

my stereo has an am/sat button but pushing it only goes to am. there doesn't appear to be sat radio. however, there is a shark fin antenna on the roof that i assumed was for sat radio. after doing some research it looks like i can buy aftermarket sat radio that integrates into my factory stereo controls. the stereo does not state xm or sirius anywhere on the front.

question 1- what sat unit do you recommend
question 2- will i be able to use the existing shark fin antenna
question 3- if the shark fin antenna is for sat, is the cable already routed to the stereo in the dash

thank you,
jcjenk

ps sorry for all lower case but my shift keys are not working lol

Hi jcjenk,
The discussion on the CL Thread: "How to? Add XM Radio to 2005 GX 470?" may be of help to you. Good Luck. p.s. You might save $ by talking to a Vaistech rep -- ask for Eugene -- about your specific vehicle First.

Just did this through the Lexus dealer. They installed VAIS, which works great. However, you do have to add the small antenna (can't use the Shark Antenna on the roof).

I placed mine on the front dashboard and really don't notice it. The unit integrates very well within the Lexus unit.
