Default possible move from 2nd gen to 3rd gen

Hello world,

After owning a 98 gs4, i just cant put up anymore with these crap suspensions. The Engine and Tranny's are pretty much bullet proof. Just curious with the feedback for those that made the move from a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen? any suspension issues? or other issues i should be aware of. Thanks in advance

What was so bad about them? Are u sure hey don't have the same issues on the 3GS?
Our suspension seems to be doing well. Change shocks every 100k or less...

The suspension is very close similiar to the 2GS. Suspension bushings need to be replaced in higher mileage cars.

My dad has the 2000 GS400 and I have an 08 GS350. IMO the 2GS seems like a more refined car while the 3GS has more modern luxury tech features. Truth be told, the 2GS and the 3GS are very different cars. They drive quite differently, but they're both tanks. The newer 2GR are much better than the 1UZ in terms of efficiency, but the 1UZ has a better track record in bulletproof-ness. The brakes are much better on the 3GS, but ride is bumpy as **** compared to the 2GS.

When I first picked up the 3GS I've considered trading with my dad, my 3GS for his 2GS. But after driving the 3GS for 1/2 year, I realized I can't live without the parking sensors, backup camera, proximity key fobs, ventilated seats and ML audio.

My '08 GS460 has had creaking front suspension since I bought it in April of 2014, with only 16k on the clock. According to Lexus, it's due to the age? Not sure 6 years and 16k really counts as old and abused, but yeah... That's Lexus service for you. Apparently some of the newer GS and LS cars have this issue? Not horribly common though. Pretty much only hear it when driving at low speeds over uneven surfaces, but it's definitely annoying. Probably going to have to dive into replacing the strut mount bushings, maybe the control arm bushings also. The main complaint about the 3GS is the rattling/buzzing/creaking interiors, but people have little fixes all over this forum for that. I love my 3GS, but there's just something about the 2GS I will always like a little bit more. My dad had an '00 GS400 Platinum, and that thing was a friggin' tank.
