does the 2008 GS 460 have the same engine as the 1999 GS400? I know the 2008 no longer has a timing chain/belt.
The repair manual for the 1999 has information on 2 engine types/classes; 1UA-FE and 2JZ-GE. I am having a problem
starting the car with the first push of the start button. The only code is "crank shaft position sensor a". I replaced the battery.
Cleaned all the cable connector ends; and checked for tightness. Hoping it is not the starter. Advanced auto checked the starter
and stated it was good. Only problem is not starting on first push of button; or second sometimes. If it is going to get worse;
I do not want to break down on the road. The starter is a major replacement issue on the 1UA-FE 1999 lexus (I replaced it on mine).
Hoping the manuals I have will work for both the 1999 and the 2008 gs 400 and 460's I own.

I don't know much about the gs400 but I'm positive it is not the same engine especially since the 400 v8 has a 4.0 liter and the 460 is a 4.6. The 460 engine code is 1ur-fe.

Ill deal with it if and when it happens.
I am planning on building a budget freeway racer in the next few years. I like the body of the 1999 GS400 and have been looking into a Ford Modular twin turbo set up that can be built cheap! Close to 1000 WHP for under $8000. I have some unique ideas I plan on including into my build. One is not unheard of, An intercooler that will have a place for lots of ice or dry ice. I was also thinking of an additional air conditioning set up directing all the cold into a custom intercooler. I just want my boosted air to be as cold as I can get.
The 2014 Jeep 9 speed transmission sounds like a lot of fun. They say on it's own it shifts so fast you cant even hesar it working. Still throwing around ideas right now...I am not going to spend more than $10.000 total Using a Crown Vis Police Interceptor for a parts car is a great start. So many strong and cheap parts there.
